| << BACK | Presidential Nominee Barack Obama comes to Harlem It was a historic day on two accounts today; one marking the seventh year anniversary of the tragic happenings of 9/11. The other occured today in Harlem, as many gathered at the corner of 126th Street and Lenox, alongside respective businesses such as: Sylvia’s, M&T Bank and Planet Fitness Gym, to catch a glimpse of presidential candidate, Barack Obama. Various buttons graced dozens of shirts and smiles covered countless faces. Many supporters expressed their high hopes for “Change,” stressing the dire need for it. Although the sky was dark and it seemed as if there would be a downpour of rain, the crowd remained pumped up, anxious and alert. Amongst the crowd were many who took off from work, as well as residents and visitors. Despite the initial gusty winds and heavy clouds, five minutes before Obama’s arrival the sun beamed through as onlookers prepared for his coming. Today in the Harlem community the people took a stand. Progress starts with the people who make up the world and is carried out by the leader of the country. Remember to VOTE November 4, 2008 |
